If you are familiar with stock market investing, then I'd lean towards putting my money there. In my opinion, the stock market is the best place to make money (low barriers to entry and relatively low risk, if wise investment decisions are made).
70k is a lot to begin with in the stock market. Before putting it all at risk, I'd recommend that you become very familiar with how the market works and learning what strategies are the safest/smartest. For example, I'd recommend not putting over 10% in a single stock (less likely to make irrational decisions when diversified) and not investing all your money at once (the best opportunities occur over a period of time).
If you're able to consistently make smart trades, you'll be able to nicely compound that 70k into a much bigger amount. Have to understand business fundamentals and be able to control your emotions.
Hope this helps, and good luck.
It sounds like you are interested in owning a small business. Property investing is a great option for a lot of people because the business model is very simple - buy a property and rent it out to a tenant. Of course there's a lot of specifics with finding a good property, purchasing the property, maintaining the property, writing up a rent agreement, etc.
Other than that you could pursue a business idea that you are very passionate about. Find something that interests you and go for it. Of course you could always just stick your money in the stock market if you can't decide what to do (but you know how that works).
£70K won't go far in terms of getting into property development. Think outside the box: could you build up your experience/contacts/cash by providing ancillary services in that area?
Long story short I'm coming into a lot of money. Around 70,000. I want to use this to make money. I know a fair bit about stocks and shares, having got financial qualifications at college level. I am more leaning into property development at the moment as I'm more hands on and would rather do something I can physically get involved in. I'm not work shy in the least. I also want to have different options so I can have my finger in several pies. I'm also willing to take smart risks. Any advice or suggestions?
