I buy Morgan silver dollars all the time. But you have to know your stuff. But for anything execpt certified coins you're really taking your chances.
Caveat emptor - buyer beware!!
If you are dealing with valuable coins, stick with professionally certified coins in PCGS or NGC holders, and Buy American. China is good at faking the holders, too. You cam always verify the certification numbers on holders by going to the pro graders' websites.
I would not buy any high-value coin in 'raw' form except in person from a reputable dealer shop or coin show.
yeah buy real coins from there
In most cases the seller has no idea of the value. They never had them certified and have no idea what they have. There a very savvy sellers that do know the value and their price reflects that.
A lot of things on eBay are extremely cheap because they are overstock or refunded materials. If a company has too many of something or sells something and people return it, it goes into a warehouse. At some point, they decide that selling it really cheaply is better than not selling it at all. Usually, those things are not fake. I bought a $1,400 automated porch awning (a Sunsetter awning) for $199 on eBay and it was brand new in the box when I got it. It works perfectly. I saved 700%. Sometimes, like I said, it is better for them to sell things cheap than to not sell them at all ... only a small percentage of those items are ever fake and usually the fake stuff sells for a lot of money because it costs a lot of money to manufacture forgeries.
Hi I am a serious coin collector and I went on Ebay to look for some very valuable coins but their very cheap is that because their fake? Or the seller either doesn't know the value of that coin?
