Ally Bank does 6 month CDs but their rate is less than their Online Savings account. Consider that account since your money won't be tied up, it will have a rate higher than a short term CD, and be able to be withdrawn at any time!
few banks will let you open one with just $500. most want $1,000,, it would tell you on their website if you click on savings- cd's.
i've seen 3 month cd's - they pay nothing !!!
even if you are lucky to find a 1 year cd paying 1% interest on $500 remember to do the math
that's only 41 cents a month in interest
Forget CDs. Go to treasurydirect.Gov and get yourself an inflation protected I savings bond. Cds do not keep up with invisible claws of inflation.
Best of luck. Take Care
CapitalOne will let you invest any amount. I accidentally put two dollars in a CD.
yeah
Also, what is the shortest CD term available?
