Can i buy and sell same stock on the same day?

Yes you can buy and sell the same stock on the same day, However, the is a rule that states you must pay in full for all purchases before they can be sold, if they are sold before payment in full is made your account would be restricted for 90 days or until payment in full is received and you can not use the proceeds of the sale to cover the purchase.

Yes this is considered day trading but as long as the purchase is paid in full prior to the sale you should have no problems.

If you have settled funds in your account, you can buy and sell the security in the same day, but would not be able to if the money in your account was unsettled funds from a prior sale. So you could have sold a position and bought a new position, but would not be able to sell that new position until the trade is settled. The wording and link below will help clarify:

"If the account has settled funds, there are no restrictions as to what may be purchased. If the credit balance is a result of an unsettled sale of securities, certain restrictions may apply.

Unsettled proceeds from existing long positions can be used to purchase additional securities as long as the new purchase is not sold prior to the settlement date of the original sale that generated the proceeds used to finance the purchase."

If it is sold prior to the settlement date of the funding sale without additional funds being deposited, it will be considered a free ride under Federal Reserve Regulation T.

For example, if you sell a security on Monday the 1st, you can use the proceeds to make a purchase prior to the settlement date of Thursday the 4th. However, if you make a purchase before Thursday the 4th then sell that new position before the settlement of Monday's sale, you will then be required to deposit funds to pay for the purchase. If you purchase on Thursday the 4th, you may place a sell order at any time you wish, because the purchase was made with settled funds.

Yes, you can buy and sell a stock in the same day. There is no 90 day restriction for anything that I know of. If you don't have a margin account and only $1000 cash, you will only be able to buy a little less than $1000 worth of stock.

yes that is a day trade. a single day trade in a 5 day period will not usually result in any restrictions, even for cash account.

google the term 'pattern day trader', then make sure the term is never applicable to you.

let's say i don't have a margin account and only 1000$ on cash on my brokerage account. and if i buy a stock with all of them and the sell it the same day, is it considered day trading? am i gonna be on the 90 day restriction?
