Can my 5 year old buy t-bills?

Heck with that...open a 529 account for him which gives him all kinds of nice tax breaks. If you like bonds there are very conservative 529's (but you need to shop a little here as the very conservative ones don't do it for me)....

edit: Education IRA's are different than 529's. You didn't get a 529 at a bank and it didn't "poop out".

529 and go back to treasurydirect and research I-bonds

Best of luck... take care

I would not do this. Find a good to very good growth stock mutual fund.

I feel desperate to have money for my son as he gets older and hopefully goes to college. He has about 5000$ I looked at Treasurydirect but did not see this info.

Can he buy t-bills and t-notes? Meaning from his credit union account which obviously I co-own?

Will he need to pay taxes separately or be added to my joint 1040 income tax form?

Thanks for any facts about the investment you can share.
