What are the steps in the process overall, please, of buying a bond?

You don't need a broker. Just use this site: http://www.treasurydirect.gov/. It's a website that allows you to buy and sell government bonds easily.

Gold has been around for thousands of years. It is sort of a hedge against inflation and is indeed a "true" asset. It may not always triple your investment overnight but it may be the most ..."safe"...(meaning the most reliable.)... investment one can make.It is good basically anywhere and it wont drop out of any value. Having at least some gold in your portfolio is a good "idear". Speaking of gold in the past 5 years some countries been buying it up. Many central banks (including ours) have started aquitring it ... and while it never goes out of style...right now it is getting hot again..chk out the situation: http://latestbuzz.info/uncertainty-metal...
