Economics a good backgroind for the investment world?

I think your attitude means that your chances of success are miniscule. Why would you come here asking for advice while disparaging the advice that you might get? For example, I've been both a math and econ professor and then worked my way through hedge funds until I one day ran my own fund. Think I could give you any advice about how you should study to succeed at finance? It is unlikely you will ever know as much about math, econ, or finance as me. But I can positively assure you that during my career I always listened to people with more experience or knowledge than me and was always grateful for their advice. You will get none from me, but maybe if you fix your attitude you won;t miss the next opportunity

Finance and accounting are much more applicable, but it's better than a degree in botany, I guess.

they just want to know what you look like, and if you can dail for dollars,,, they will teach you about investments,,,business is worst major out there.

Hi, I'm currently a student who will probably obtain a major in economics and minor in mathematics. I probably won't be influenced by your statement but I kinda wanna hear opinions on the matter of if it is wrong for me to attack the investment world with a economics background. Also, I constantly study finance and accouting on the side and am always following the markets performing calls on multiple markets. I just wanted to included that last Tibet of information so no one waste their time telling me to start a virtual account and to navigatey my way through the bull sh!t on investopedia to find information (they have great stuff but also a lot of bull). I really enjoy the commodities market and I feel economics whole supply and demand side of things would be perfect for that. What are your thoughts?
