How do I trade socks online?

1. open a brokerage account at any one of maybe 100 online brokers

2 transfer money into the account

3 go to the site and type in the stock you want to buy (it will cost about$8 or so)

that's all there is to it

Very Carefully. You will save yourself money and heartache by first reading "Stock Investing for Dummies". Then read "A Random Walk Down Wall Street".

Then set-up an imaginary portfolio on Yahoo Financial for at least 6months.

It may be safer for you, a novice, to start off by "dollar cost averaging into a market wide index fund".

Your question proves that you are nowhere near ready to invest in stocks. Go get a copy of "Investing For Dummies" and start there. It's a great intro book.

There are any number of site, www.cnbc.com, yahoo finance are two. You need to set up an account with a online brokerage company like tdamericatrade, fidelity, Scottrade, etc. etc. etc. and do your trading there

Which website do I go to that will show me all the stocks? From penny stocks all the way to ones that are worth over 1,000 a share? And how do I actually buy them? Like do I take money from my bank account and put it into the website? I'm really new to this, I have never done this before. Your help and tips are much appreciated.
