The earlier answer is correct that the US mint never made quarters out of gold. A couple of possible explanations:
- mint error where a quarter was stamped on a gold-colored sacajawea dollar planchet.
- plated outside the mint. These are just ebay trinkets with little value. Coin collectors consider them damaged rather than enhanced.
25 cents.
There is no such thing as a gold quarter, but there was, for a little while, a $1 coin that was gold colored and about the size of a quarter. Sounds like you may have that.
