In 1896 the US had three mints. One of them did not use a letter. If it is true silver it could be very valuable. Do not sell it to the first person who makes you an offer. Shop around. A few years ago my son bought an unusual dollar from a friend of his. I told him that I did not know what it was worth but I thought it was much more than face value. He saved the coin. A couple years later he asked me to get an appraisal on it for him (he was just entering high school}. I took it to a dealer who offered me $40 for it. When I walked out of the store a customer followed me and said he would pay $80 for the coin. I continued to talk to the customer and found out he was a dentist and knew a friend of mine. I told him that it wasn't for sale. I was just getting an appraisal for my son. Then he told me that it was worth at retail about $120. If this is a silver coin it could be very valuable.

If it's a Morgan silver dollar which was the only one at the time it's worth 23 bucks in silver melt value. If it's Almost Uncirculated it worth maybe 35 bucks.

I have a 1896 silver dollar coin and I was just wondering if it's worth any money? I've looked around on google and a lot of websites say to check the back for a letter, but mine doesn't have one..
Just curious.
