Is this a smart investment?

Consider vanguard total stock market index fund instead of vanguard 500. You are laying the foundation for a brighter future so stop worrying and continue on your path.

Ignore short term market news, stay diversifed and think long term also invest using dollar cost average. You will be fine

In order to amass 7 figures while working for someone else without a big time paying job, you need to be in the market.

Failure to consistenly participate in the market would surely lead to shoulda woulda coulda in the coming years.

Who wants to be a corporate slave forever so good job by saving for your retirement. Let your friends and family say " life is short, I want to live good now or you only live once. Just tell them , dont ask me for any funds

Take Care

Depending what your 401K is invested in, it sounds like you have good diversification. You might want to sit down with a financial advisor, not one that sells investment plans, but one that you pay out of your pocket for the advice. Don't go by the online investment guides. These guides don't know you and your goals or family matters on a personal level. The cost is usually about $500 but well worth it. I did it 20 years ago and it was the best money I ever spent.

It's actually pretty good. I agree with jimbo that you'll need an independent financial adviser. You also have to consider other things like life insurance, trusts, and disability insurance. Good luck.

its decent

I am 30 and have Vanguard 500 index fund in individual account and Vanguard 2050 fund in retirement account in Vanguard.com. I also have 401k and match the companies contributions and have a stock and also match company contributions.
