Son, the future is in Solar energy here's why. If you were in charge of a utility co and you needed to meet increased demand due to more construction of houses and office buildings, consider Nuclear. It comes with a stack of regulations that would fill a room floor to ceiling, nevermind environmental impact as well as dual valving and metering.

Ok, consider oil fired with its CO2 and hydro carbon emissions regulations. Then you are also subject to fluctuating prices of oil. The turbine generators for them are expensive.

Don't even think about coal.

Ok, consider Solar, you lay down the panels, run the wires to an inverter and your finished. Guess what? The fuel is free. No moving parts means low maintenance. Then with electric cars coming out, they will be looking for solar chargers for them very soon, etc.

Do this, look up an Exchange Traded Fund called TAN in Y Finance. Look at TAN's holdings, some of those stocks are very cheap. Most are foreign with the majority of them in China. They have been breaking on the upside for the last 3 months. Hold them for the long term (3 years minimum)

Most brokers wiil want you to open an account with at least $1000.

Don't get the cart before the horse ... guess you can tell I'm an old coot. Habit should trump volume. Explanation: Start saving something REGULARLY no matter how small (put it in bank savings). Developing the habit is more important than how much u save at this point. Next, as income grows put in more, - remember you are just working on habit right now. Next, When you have saved 3K invest in Vanguards Dividend paying index fund and have an automatic monthly withdrawal deposited in it from your checking. This simple formula will retire u rich at 50 yrs. old. This approach makes u an investor. Playing the market ( lots of buying and selling) will make u a broke fool. Don't listen to all the other EXCITING, EXOTIC advice people give you ... simple and easy is better.

You may start with a minimum of $100 or even less than that You can buy one stock also. Invest your surplus money in good stock. If you find an increase of 10% in the rate sell and again buy another stock. Slowly you can improve.

im 20 years old, in college with no job. I do ebay selling until someone will give me a call for a interview. I am thinking about my future and the world how it is, and what it can be. I want to invest. but I am new, but not afraid to learn. I have purchased multiple books, and reading them. but I was wondering how much is start up? whats a good site that is trust worthy?

any other investing options? i plan to buy 10oz of silver a week.

please help.
