Most folks (including you, apparently) seem unaware that "printing extra currency" (or QE, as it started being called recently) has been a continuous & essential function of the Federal Reserve since 1861...

When a nation uses fiat currency, and its currency is accepted by a majority of nations, it has no CHOICE but to print additional currency to inject into the world market to maintain a stable "average number of dollars in circulation per human"....OTHERWISE as the world population grows, each US dollar would become "rarer" and thus worth MORE, which would cause global DEFLATION....
