What are the stock markets playing at!?

Do not focus on the short term market news. Think long term and invest by using dollar cost average.

The stock market always advance overtime

Take Care

The market is simply ignoring the fact there isn't going to be a shooting war, and the fact that Putin has lost Ukraine to the West by gaining Crimea, but in the short term so what, it is irrelevant, people like Warren Buffet still make the biggest do$h by investing long term.

I take it you are day trading, I had a very savvy friend who having made 1/2 £Million on property decided to retire and do day trading.

He was featured on a Channel 4 programme back around 2007, he had made £25,000 in one month, what the programme did not show was the following month he lost about £27,000.

When I last saw him in 2011 he was down to his last £95k and had stopped trading and was looking to buy a house to renovate.

I phoned him last month and he is now moving house (he owned his own place outright) into one he has just renovated and is looking to buy 3 or 4 this year.

My 2nd friend who went day trading had a lot less, he had around £25k but came out when he was down to around £5k.

If you want to make money, then look to long term, day trading is a way to make the brokers rich, no one makes money long term by betting.

The example I give is BT because it has gone both up and down, and so reflects the FTSE 100 better.

I have not been able to afford shares these past few years because of high debts, however I had a tiny pension which since 2007 has increased (if memory serves) 81% by just tracking the FTSE 100.

The stock market thinks long term, and tends not to worry about short term events. Even if the Ukraine & Russia go to war, mr market has figured out that it is unlikely to involve western troops.

Crimea has been defacto Russian for years.

I have a long term plan, and I don't let short term events alter it.

The Crimea has nothing to do with the stock market.

Russia is going ahead and seizing Crimea, and the markets have continued to go up? I do not understand this..... true i am new to trading, but when i saw this news i leveraged up to the hilt, just to get burnt for about £150! ;(
