What computer-related things should I invest money in?

You should build your own desktop with a decent graphics card and processor and windows 7. Do not get windows 8. For a graphics card i suggest a nvidia gt 640 because it it cheap and can handle most things like video editing or gaming. For a processor i recommend an amd fx of some sort with 4 cores for super fast performance. For ram its up to you if you want to do very intensive tasks get 8gb of ram or if you want to do normal everyday stuff 4gb-6gb would be plenty. For a monitor if you have a hd tv use that because it is cheaper and usually looks better. Hope this helps. Also if you cant build it yourself your local computer store probably can. Good luck

Right now I have an out-dated laptop with Windows XP that doesnt have working sound and runs pretty slow. I don't have anything special to plug in, like the whole double-monitors thing, but I'd like to know what things would be ideal for me based on my needs. I'm already saving for a better laptop with Windows 8 and speakers. I plan on doing a lot of music-related things, computerprogramming/animation, and starting a Youtube channel, so is it better for me to save for a home PC kinda thing or a laptop? Also, are there add-on things that I should buy, like the double monitors or a certain kind of webcam? I don't really know what's out there so that's why I'm asking :(
