Compounding is the process of earning interest on your interest (or dividends on your dividends.

Wit a cash account it means leaving your interest in your acccount and earning more interest on the original capital and also on the previous interest earned.

Compounding dividends means reinvesting your cash dividends into more shares and subsequently earning dividends on the increased number of shares (usually done via a SCRIP or DRIP dividend reinvestment scheme)
