Where to invest my savings to get a safe steady rate of interest?

If you're looking for "slow and steady wins the day" try what I call "human need". This is your basic of the basics, the things people need to live day in and day out things like food, water, electricity etc. They're not glamorous, but they're stable. Recession or not people need electricity, so buying shares in a power company should be quite recession proof, and would grow 2-3% per year over the inflation rate just with the natural growth of the company.

I'm 16 and I was given 1000 euro in a will , I've had this since the age of 6 and it's been in the bank, the interest I've accumulated is 5 cent., yep that's it!

Where can I invest my money (I know it's not a huge amount) so that I can get a steady stage return?

I'm not looking for exponential growth but better the 5 cents for 10 years..

I do not want to have to constantly check my portfolio and it cannot be very volatile ( I have to convince my parent that moving it is a good idea! And if there's a chance of loosing it there's no hope in me moving it)

Any suggestions?
