Buying stocks and shares for a beginner?

Start with yahoo finance, that's what I use everyday. They provide decent graphs for you to analyze certain trends. When I started playing around with stocks in college I bought a financial guide/dictionary and incorporated the information I found. If you want to dig deeper into a stock you can go to a companys website and download/print off their quarterly and annual financials to see how they are performning. Good luck, and definitely start with the fake money sites until you feel comfortable. Nobody drops a grand at the poker table if they don't know how to play (or they shouldn't).

The main problem of almost every trader is the thoughts that trading is game or it's easy money. Before profitable trading you should learn a lot about this field. So, even don't try to trade with real money. You can learn how to make real money from this course ( http://forexsignal.kyma.info ) Second, you should choose the right broker. There are some brokers that plays against their own clients. So, your main goal - find good broker. Third, yo can generate more profits with automated trading software. As you maybe know, there is a lot of different scammers on trading market so it will be hard to find really profitable trading system. That strategy brings me a lot of money every month, all thanks to the course that I posted above. Hope you will follow my recommendations, bye!

Investopedia, and Bulkowski's chart pattern website. Analyze and learn as many chart patterns as you can. They'll set you out on the right foot.

Hi,

I am 18, currently at university studying engineering and finance. I am interested in investing money in stocks and shares. Moreso for an educational purpose than an actual way of making money. I am thinking about investing maybe $500-$1000 but first I want to use one of the fake money sites just to get a better understanding. I've watched a few videos on the basics but I don't really know where to start. How do you compare companies and what sites do you use? What are the main reasons that people use to buy/sell? I'd just like a bit of information on where to start or any links to resources that might lead me in a good direction.

Thanks
