Exercise options or just sell?

Sell it, why bother taking a position in the stock, then liquidating it when you can just sell the contract

When you trade options, the buyer and the seller are no longer related, they are two seperate positions held by the clearing corp so YES the the buyer of the contract still has until the expiration date to do anything.

You are trading the option independent of the stock or anyone else. You will never know or care who is on the other end or what they are doing and why.

You are only betting on the price change of the option, nothing else.

Why would you pay a $15 exercise fee to own the stock, then pay another $10 commission to sell the stock that you don't want in the first place?

If you have an option in the money is it generally more profitable to exercise or just sell? Also, when you sell, does that mean the person who bought it has whatever time is left on the expiration to also sell or exercise? How does that work?
