That article is rubbish (and out of date). I am not sure where you are based but in UK they are no individual stockbrokers. Only corporate stockbrokers. You could work for a stockbroker as a trainee- of course. But you would not be allowed to advise clients until you had the required certificates (Statement of Professional Standing). There are usually two types of job in stockbroker, split into front and back offfice. Front office is contact with clients and back office is admin, portfolio valuation, research etc.
