Unless the company directly offers shares to the public, you'll have to go through a broker. And nowadays, there is usually an extra charge if you want actual physical certificates.

Can you purchase this without going through a broker? The vast majority of companies are only handled by a brokerage firm. You will need to check this out and maybe contact them to find out if they sell direct.

Why? As an investment, this would be ludicrously expensive and unprofitable.

I would like to buy 1 individual share from Rogers comunications all I need is the certificate and the official share I don't plan to sell it and it's only 1 share and a one time thing so preferably no broker
