You could start out with $500. That is the minimum that Scottrade allows. There are no other fees, other than $7 commission each way (buy or sell) regardless of how many shares.
first, contact a discount broker like schwab or fidelity, you may need to own this with your adult parent(s), usually $2500 minimum or so,check the website, don't guesss.
you could, but because of the commission fee, I would not recommend it. Proportionally, the lower your amount is, the higher your commission fee will seem to be taking out of your total.
