How should I allocate $15,000?

It is obvious that your father has taught you good money lessons,,,,,, The best person to ask would be him !!!

Unless you have reported your income over the years, don't try to open the IRA. You must fund an IRA with earned income. If you have earned income, the IRS needs to know....

Keep it as an emergency fund. You have college ahead, and after that you have job and moving expenses, you will need money for relocation and getting started, dont lose it.

Impressive. Piss away some of it on just fun. You deserve it. Perhaps gradually invest in an index ETF to generate some returns to spend in college.

Send me the money and I'll triple it in 30 days. Trust me.

Check out Dave Ramsey. He has some great money tips.

I'm a 17 y/o with 14-16k saved up from doing a lot of odd jobs consistently for 4+ years

Right now I'm planning on putting 5,000 in my Roth Ira, as a lump sum, 2,500 in the bank as a rainy day fund, 2,500 into buying a car, & 1,000 into buying football equipment for personal use for my senior year of high school football. P.s My school's football equipment blows. almost everything doesn't fit & is falling apart. So far I have 11,000 total accounted for, but I'm not sure how to use the other 3-5k

Also if you have suggestions how to use the other 11k instead, I'm all ears.
