A great place to start to learn about investing or hone your skills is the blog InvestLikeMe.blogspot.com. The author provides market news and articles regarding the technicals of stocks. He also shows you his current active portfolio and updates his trade real time on twitter so you can make the same trades as him.
You shouldnt invest your savings, your savings should be within a bank or credit union
Anything can happen within the market and as you stated you need the money so it should be within a safe vehicle.
Take Care
Honestly, I just got out of college also. Do not tie up your cash flow. I had about 12,000 from working retail for 6 years. I wanted to invest so badly, but the best advice i can give you from someone who just graduated is do not tie up your cash flow. 2,000 is a great start. Keep saving!!
Hello! I would love some advice.
I am 20 years old. I am in college but have help with many of my expenses such as my education and housing. I am making an income because I am taking time off from school to work a full time internship. I make about 1k every 2 weeks. My income will stop flowing in July when I go on a study abroad in Spain. This will require some finances.
Heres the deal. I have a good amount of money saved. Ill need a good bit of it to cover student loans int he future. I'd say that my objectives with this money is to have some long term returns and to play the market a bit and see what I can do in terms of short term returns.
MY GOAL: I would like to start my own business in the future so having money from investing can help fund myself. This would most likely be within the next 5-6 years. I am not very tolerant to risk. I'd say I have about $2,000 I would be willing to invest. Unless there is reason to believe I should be investing more. Ill leave that to you guys to help me decide.
I have been thinking of putting about 1k in an ETF (any suggestions?) and then another $1k in various stocks. (Im thinking $BAC, $TKMR, $WFC and a few others but please suggestions welcome).
What should I do with this money?
If mutual funds/ETF, which and why?
If stocks/bonds/options, which, what kind and why?
Any help welcome.
Thank you!
