How stock price change?

Posted at: 2014-12-05
With an order driven system the orders drive the price (!).

Let's say the price is 34/35. Theis means someone has put in an order to buy shares at 34 and someone else has an order in to sell at 35.

So you come along and put in an order to sell shares at 34.5

What is the price now??

The link below describes a quote driven system but may help a bit.

Yes, there are several ways to calculate stock price.

When you watch a stock it goes up cents and dollars lets say it went from 23.00 to 24.00 was that the average amount it was bought for or was it the last transaction price? I understand that stock price fluctuates based on demand but how do they decide what the price is going to change to is there a formula?
