I want to understand more about personal finance.
I don't earn much at all, and while I would say I was pretty poor it's not a dire situation despite the majority of my income being student loans and my savings from my jobs as a teenager. I am not in debt, I'm excellent at budgeting.
I just don't understand the different ways of saving money. I have an ISA and it does not have a good interest rate any longer but the whole idea of switching to another provider is confusing. I don't know how to do it and I don't have the time to go through a lengthy process.
It would be good to know more about the kinds of financial products (not sure if thats the right terminology) a young person needs to know these days, as it was never covered in school and my parents are worse than me.
What I'm most interested in though, is the idea of investing in stocks. My partner's family is full of people who have made thousands out of this, and these are just ordinary people who have made their fortunes from this. How can I do this? Where can I learn from a trustworthy source so that I can do it with confidence?
Is there a book I can buy which will help me learn, which is not too difficult to read? (It has to be for the UK)
