If i buy a stock with dividend...?

Hi Christian, long time no answers for you but you hit on one that I know a little about.

All the shares of the same class receive the same dividend. Sometimes companies will borrow money to pay dividends because it sends a bad signal to reduce them. However, it DOES happen. Look at the dividend history of AGNC.

The dividend may be adjusted for each paying period, usually quarterly.

Dividends are not fixed. They depend on profit and the directors decision (and shareholder's vote),

The dividend you see as 8% is very likely historic and already paid. It is the next dividend you need to worry about and this will be declared when the annual profits are announced.

Everyone's dividend will go down.

your dividend will go down-most ceo of corporations will not want to reduce the dividend -but if profits are bad they have to- example is the coal industry.

this means your dividend will also go down to 4% but you already profit from previous year so its ok. The changes have came from expansion or economic reason, depends to the company. Investing in stock market is awesome, specially if your targeting for a long run, invest in sure company. or depend to you if your a rist taker. Try to read books about stock market (copy&paste): http://bit.ly/1rsGdEq

If i buy a stock with a dividend. (for example, 8%).

Then after a year, the company announced a lower dividend of 4%.

Does this mean my dividend will also go down to 4% or does that only apply to newly issued shares?
