Salary is generally based on yearly. 46,000 a month would be 552,000 a year. Unless you're a CEO/President at a big company, I highly doubt its monthly ;) 46k per year isn't too shabby either.

'Salary' means you get paid a set amount rather than your pay varying by the number of hours you work.

How often you are paid depends on the employer - some pay weekly, some twice a month (like mine), and some only pay once a month.
