I definitely recommend subscribing to this site in particular. Very good research, quality stocks. I was a bit weary of penny stocks from all the bad hype they receive but this guy is pretty legit. He's put my mind at ease with a lot of the fears I've had. I especially like that he doesn't send out announcements left and right. I've signed up for other websites that fill my in-box with one company after the other. I don't know where to even start with so many choices in front of me! but the biggest thing of all you MUST remember is
ALL the money in the stock market comes for other investors
So for 1 investor to make millions other investors (collectively) MUST lose millions
And its FAR easier to be a loser than a winner
The second thing to bear in mind is
There are LOADS of books supposedly showing you how to become a winner
If YOU were a person who had a guaranteed way of becoming a winner which would YOU do
Write books about it?, or follow the way and become very rich?
You may well hear of somebody following such and such's book and made loads. What you DONT hear about are the thousands who followed the same book and lost everything.

there are a lot of ways in the stock market where you could become very rich very quickly - but they are no better than playing the lottery or playing roulette
you COULD "invest" say ￡1000 in lottery tickets and you COULD win millions, but its FAAAAR more likely you will lose the lot.
Assuming, you have the money, before you start investing do a couple of practice runs, study the market, pick on several shares that do fluctuate and they are more volatile than the market, make sure they are backed up by a large market liquidity and so on.
Take a couple classes usually you can find some for free from several online brokers.

For a beginner, I would just focus on building your capital. You'll need money to make money so get a job and keep saving. Once you have something to invest, put most of it in an index or mutal fund because you'll have no idea what your doing and it'd be safer to let someone else do the work. But DO keep some out to invest yourself. You aren't going to get rich quick and the market will reward practice and experience. If it was easy to do, then everyone would be doing it.
