usually annually and only after tax year end. My ISA initial term ended on 23/03/2014 (account was opened on 23/03/22013) but interest will only be paid on 07/04/2014

Another good point to remember is that usually people leave interest on ISA account as de-facto it continues to earn you further tax-free interest.
