Is this a good time to invest in gold??

The precious metals market is basically the same as the stock market just slower with less risk of going completely broke. Gold or silver will always be worth something. And in the long term market gold and silver have gone up exponentially I'm just not sure how that coincides with inflation but it is a good insurance policy and it's fun to check values. Its like the stock market for beginners.

Gold is a commodity, not an investment. It's meant to be traded. You buy it if you know you can sell it for more. Too many people buy it HOPING they can sell it for more.

Look at any of the companies filling TV and radio and the web with ads for buying precious metals. They are ALWAYS buying and selling, no matter WHAT the price is, no matter WHICH WAY prices are headed. They simply buy for less than what they KNOW they can sell for, and if they can't buy it from you or anyone at THEIR price, they won't buy. If they can't get the price they want, they won't sell. But they have no trouble at all finding both sellers and buyers. It's their business. It's trading, not investing.

Gold is a hedge against inflation, not a real "investment" since it does not DO anything to generate extra value...

Gold traded for $2,400 an ounce (adjusted for inflation) when Columbus "discovered" America, then fell in value and was worth between $350 and $627 an ounce for CENTURIES until the invention of "mass e-mail marketing" in the late 1980's, which brought in a whole new wave of suckers willing to buy gold...

It will be back trading at between $350 & $627 before you know it...

It depends on your appetite for risk. Right now gold is not a productive asset. It is basically an insurance policy.

One person sells it because he thinks it is going to go down in value, another buys it because he thinks it is going up in value.

That makes it anyones guess.

yes! its a good time to invest

head editor? some position at Forbes gave wsj live ( wall street journal) an interview. Very keen on bringing back the gold standard.

the minute it is rumoured we are even considering we are going back on the gold standard- buy. otherwise, gold is ok, but if it gets expensive enough we can filter it out ofsea water.

No. Buy GOOG, FB, or AMZN. Those companies are innovative and will be very profitable in the next few years.
