Question about getting money out of a stock?

The executor or trustee of the estate should be in touch with you. It is generally very easy for stocks to be sold so long as the person selling is authorized to do so. You may wish to not have them sold and receive the stock itself so in that case the title would be transferred to your name.

You can't do anything until the securities are transferred into your name (the executor of the estate must initiate that). Then you can sell them.

You can request a cheque from your brokerage house and you can present death certificate of your family member and your relationship affidavit or proof to claim money

Contact the executor of the estate.

It can take years for an estate to settle.

A person in my family has just died and left me all of it. I was wondering how to go about getting this money of out the stocks. There is a lot of money in these stocks and I have to idea how to go about getting that money out.
