Should Promotion Money On Music Be Upfront?

A big time promoter does not make you pay. If a promoter is interested in you, they pay for everything because they know they can make money off you

And you NEVER get involved with any promoters, managers, contracts, etc without a good entertainment lawyer. So many young musicians are completely screwed out of money now and into the future because they signed a bad contract that favored the promoter, not the musician. You want to make sure YOU own the rights to your music. You need to make sure the commission structure is fair. You need to make sure there is an end date on the contract. But a good lawyer will handle everything for you

You do not even start negotiating with anyone without a lawyer handling everything for you

This is a business.... and he does this to make money. No, he does not think you have talent. All he cares about is the money he gets for his services. Claiming he worked with big names is something every scam artist can do. You have no way of finding out whether these claims are for real. If he was for real... then he would not charge you for your demo tape because his money will come when you sign a contract and make money selling your product.

It's just a marketing scam. They make kids feel "important" and make you believe that you were chosen from a lot of other kids that are trying to get this guys attention. When in reality he will respond to any kid that seems to be interested and will take their money no matter whether they have talent or not. It will not go any further than a demo tape. He does not promise you anything but a lousy demo tape that you can make at home.

Hold on to your money, sounds like a scam. If he was bigtime he would not need to shake down kids for $400.

Hi, i am an inspiring artist and I emailed this promotor guy that worked with Wiz Khalifa, drake and alot of bigtime artists. He seems legit because he posts quotes about people that invest in theirself and grind they will shine and all that, He has like 10m followers on instragram and followed me back with like only 130 hes following. Well anyways he showed me the promotion packs and there Like grades; silver pack, gold pack etc & the biggest pack is like mad expensive but the lowest one range from 400-600 depending if its a single, mixtape or album and its common with up and coming artists. im 15 and i know my mom is not giving me that type of money so i have to work & save up... Should I give my trust in him?
