Stock bid and ask price?

Posted at: 2014-12-05
There is only one bid price and one ask price for each stock (on any one market). These prices are conatantly changing. Yahoo Finance shows the bid and ask but is 15 minutes delayed.

Who makes the money? Traditionally it is the Market Makers but this is only on a market driven system. Mainly the system is Order Driven so no one makes the difference. Although the MMs will be using the Order Book. Usually the MMs will make sligtly better prices than the Order Book so the business they get they will make the difference (the Jobber's turn).

Look at a proper Level 2 price system.

The other thing is that MMs are only obliged to make a price in a certain size and this will be the price shown on the screens. If your broker phones them up then they will probably quote a keener price if it suits their 'book'.

bid price is the highest bid

ask price is the offer or lowest bid

it changes every millisecond, so unless you have a platform 2 or better, you won't ever see it on yahoo finance

The stock market have many different bid and ask prices for one same stock, so what is the price we can see in news or Yahoo Finance? Is it a bid price or ask price?

Besides, who makes the money of spread price, the broker?

Thanks
