Stock market, what is it?

give me like a detailed (but easy) explanation of the difference between stock market and stock exchange? xx (youre not doing my homework alright) thanks!!

I would say that the "stock market" includes any and all of the stocks that you could invest in around the world. The stock exchange is a place where stocks are traded between owners. The stock exchange used to be a physical location that people would travel to in order to trade their stock certificates (which were made of paper). These days everything is done over the internet and the stock exchanges are basically now just a bunch of computers that help route stock trade orders together.

It's important to realize that not all stock trades must occur on a stock exchange. Occasionally, really big time investors will meet directly and will negotiate a large trade deal outside of the exchange. There are also lots of smaller companies that don't meet the requirements of the stock exchanges (such as the American Exchange, New York Stock Exchange, or NASDAQ). In this case, the stocks are often traded directly between brokerage firms (referred to as an "over the counter" exchange).

So long story short, the stock market is all of the stocks you can invest in. The stock exchange is a place where people come together to buy and sell stocks (although most of it is now done online). I hope that helps!

The Stock Exchange is the active market, like a shop. The Stock Market is where you can view the contents in the shop. Obviously, a lot more to it, but you requested a simple explanation!

You're not asking people to do your homework. Just your work. Buy a book.

They are two names for the same thing.
