What broker fits my needs best?

Both are good, but I think TD Ameritrade is good for your need because it offers commission free ETFs.

Here is a brokerage comparison, you may get an idea from this:

So glad to see you people started to think for long term. I would suggest you to create a plan and stick with it. You may consider building your portfolio with mix of bonds and high quality dividends, that will give you great return for long run.

Little difference between the two brokerages you mention. My one comment is on your 401(k) investing intent. Are you contributing enough to "max out" the employer match each year? That's free money to you.

Either are quite good, Fidelity offers free trades on their ETF's and they rock some of the best low cost ETF in the industry.

This is my plan. Im 22 years old and i'm looking to invest roughly $1000 a month into a ETF indices reinvesting the dividends mirroring the S&P 500 ex) SPY, VOO, IVV ect... I am also planing to open a roth IRA to invest 5500/year and invest 3000/year into my 401k (employer match 10%).Time frame: 40 years until retirement.

Would i be better off going with scottrade or Td ameritrade?

What I like about these brokers is the banking services they offer.

Also scottrade is cheaper at $7/trade vs 10, but TdAmer offers commission free EFTs, which balance each other out.

So can i go wrong with either of these brokers or is there even better brokers out there to suite my needs?
