Hydropower has a lot to recommend it, but EROI and profitable financial investments do not necessarily track each other.
Things good about hydropower:
-- Renewable energy
-- Baseload generation
-- Don't have to pay for the water that generates the power.
Things that may not be good about hydropower:
-- High capital costs (unless you are talking about small hydro) to build and repair
-- Very difficult to permit
--Dams can destroy communities and wildlife habitat
You have to look at hydropower projects on a case by case basis to evaluate their investment value
I mean it has an EROI of 10:1 which is way better than coal or oil nowadays. So, is investing in this resource wise?
