I'm going to open an account in a discount online broker. I can see some have account minimum requirements. If the account minimum is $500, does that mean if I deposit $1000 in my stock account, I can only use $500 to buy stock? or I can use the entire $1000 to buy stock cuz the account minimum $500 can be included in my stock value? btw I'm going to go for Scottrade.
