Of course a lot of the traditional stock broker jobs are being replaced by automated trading, etc., so planning on being some sort of investment adviser as an end game may make sense.

Adding some of those as a minor might make it easier to get some entry level position in the industry (I'm ignorant as to what an economic intern would do)
Certainly there's still some old boys clubs on wall street who prefer ivy leagers, but it's better your to have a long upper crust blood line.

are you kidding me? do you have an A average in your bachelors degree in economics, before you apply to an ivy league for a masters, your grade point average should be way above a B, closer to A- or A.
There's no guarantee you'd get into an Ivy school. Merely earning A's is not enough. Moreover, they really like applicants who have some work experience, so get some.
If you want investment banking then yes --- an ivy league school is the way to go.
