Share price and market value are the same thing; it's the most recent price the stock was traded at. So if shares are down 3% today, that means the last traded price was 3% lower than yesterday's close.
It means share prices, but since share price determines market value, then market value would also drop by this amount.
Suppose, a stock is trading at 50$ and the other day it falls to 48.5$, thereby the stocks has fallen by 3%
(I made this up by the way) but when you read or hear this, does it mean the share price is down by this amount or the market value???
