How do I buy stock???

I only have 1000 dollars to invest and the EdwardJones in my town only does $10,000 or more. Where do I go?

try etrade or scottrade.

They have that minimum since they are an advisory firm, so you pay them an annual fee for their oversight, which is not something you need for that small of an amount anyway.

A better option is to just set up an account with an online brokerage house like scott trade or vanguard, and then just do your own research and picks for what you want to invest in.

You can open an account with an online broker such as Scottrade or E-trade. The transaction fees are much less and you can easily buy and sell stock over the internet.

There are a few brokers that can deal with smaller accounts.

Try eTrade, or ScottsTrade. However these are self-directed accounts, meaning you don't have a broker or adviser to help you.

Your local bank may have a department that can help with investing if you wanted a more guided approach.

You should have demat account first to trade in the stock market then you can add fund in your accoun and trade for the stocks

scottrade. You can do it by mail.
