Since we, the American people are the government, and we choose people from among our own ranks to represent our needs and interests in the context of helping this nation remain strong, is this whole "smaller government" Trojan horse the treacherous corporate-colluding economy-trashing GOP uses to eliminate all government oversight, all consumer protections, and all systems of checks and balances (a.k.a., the GOP's corporate-colluding DEREGULATION)? This is what former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan, a lifelong Republican, testified under oath was the cause of the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac housing collapse and the horrific FINANCIAL SYSTEM MELTDOWN that nearly took this nation down into the toilet and that bankrupted most of Europe, thus slowing our own recovery.

Do I think that regulations on industry, including the financial industry, are a good thing? Yes, I do.

We need government to help protect us little guys. The rich are fully capable of helping themselves. And they always do at the expense of the little guy!
We can reduce government spending by buying American made goods. We can bring about meaningful change with our wallets.
They won't notice Big Government until guys with brown shirts bust down their door and hang a picture of Dear Leader on their wall.
Then again, based on the lack of concern here by some, they may have nice, crisp, well ironed brown shirts in their closet already.
