# shares is how many shares you bought 100 shares
date you bought them June 13
close price what the stock closed at on the day 54.75 per share
the gain on your investment was .50 cents
.50 cents x 100 shares = $50 profit so far
So pretty much we have have follow 10 stocks in the S&P 500. We are given $1,000,000 of fictitious money to allocate.
I will use yahoo finance.
We have to use excel and input the data. The categories are below.
NAME OF STOCK=
SYMBOL=
BUY PRICE=
# OF SHARES=
DATE OF PURCHASE=
CLOSE PRICE=
GAIN OR LOSS=
Percent growth=
Days gain=
overall return=
Now my problem is I don't understand what these mean, with the exception of Name of stock and symbol

can someone explain what each of these categories mean and how to find them? Please use Nike as an example.
Thank You
