Your employer has sent a zero dollar transaction electronically through to the receiving bank or credit union. Called a prenote, this transaction is used to verify the routing number and account number you provided has been entered correctly and to detect any problems with your bank transit. This prenote transaction also notifies the receiving bank or credit union about the new direct deposit transfer arrangement for your account.
Until your employer actually begins sending your paycheck using electronic deposit, this prenote transaction will cause the creation of a physical check for the employee. These physical checks will stop once the employee payroll system begins to send your paycheck using electronic deposit. This often takes a few paychecks to become active.

The prenote was merely to test the account. You're direct deposit will show on the date due.
Direct deposit, also known as direct credit, is a banking term that describes a deposit of money by a payer directly into a payee's bank account.
