How much to buy 1 share?

The app on your phone shows the current price (which changes throughout the day while the market is open 9:30am-4:00pm EST). The second number is how much it is up or down that day. To buy 1 share, you would need to pay the current price (note that the price on your phone may be delayed by up to 20 minutes so it may not be the current price when you go to buy it). You need to have a brokerage account (Schwab, Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, or other). You then pay a commission on top of the stock price (this can vary depending on your broker) and since you are only buying 1 share, there may be an additional fee for it being an "odd lot" meaning not in 100 share increments.

Whatever the ask price is plus your commission to the broker.
