You're going to spend $110 on a toy that will sit in a drawer. It will still be one toy. You're hoping that someone who is a greater fool than you are will pay $220 for it. That's really the name of the theory: the greater fool theory.
Most likely, you'll lose part of your collection or spend money moving the collection when you move a few times, and then when you try to sell it, you find that it isn't worth more. It might even be worth less. People who really care about Darth Vader and hot wheels were born in a certain time period, and as they grow older, they'll stop caring so much about toys from their youth. Or they'll die.
If you buy $110 worth of stock, you're buying part of a company. You're hoping that over time the company will grow. Your share of that company will therefore be more valuable because the company became more valuable.
Update: I thought i would have time to enter other info lol. Anyway, the car I am talking about is the Darth Vader Hot Wheels that comes in the nice box and light saber. Its $110. Considering that Star Wars limited Edition stuff usually is a good investment, would this one be like the others? I would eventually sell it. I appreciate it!
