Realistic return in a year ?

I will answer your question honestly, and try to explain a concept that you didn't ask.

First of all 32% is good.

The problem is that you need to work on your technique for choosing stocks and limiting risks. It really doesn't matter which stocks you choose, as long as your overall reasons for choosing the stocks fits YOUR criteria for picking the stocks in the first place.

And since the only person who can learn your criteria is you - it will take you some time to discover your criteria. Your own personal style will be unique, and no-one can give it to you. It is a journey of self discovery, learned from others one small piece at a time.

I suggest that you keep notes, writing down why you chose a certain stock, and as you learn more, keep making notes.

well im doing a virtual portofolio with us stocks and so far my return is 32% in 4 months. my portofolio consists of 6 stocks with a mid market cap and my strategy is mainly value based. is this a good return so far? i was looking at investments for long term but so far the q1 results have all been positive pushing stocks higher than what i expected to get.

I also trade another virtual portofolio but in uk equities for a very short period and my return so far has been dissapointing but thats investing.

so im wondering what is the return in a year you would likely see in hedge funds and mutual funds?

if your wondering what my stocks are :

US portofolio:

China Xd plastics

Apple

Golar LNG

Ford

Myriad genetics

Nautillus inc

Corning inc

UK portofolio:

Royal mail

Mollins plc

Wood group

Kingfisher plc

moneysupermarket

dignity plc

Aggreko

BT

Can you please give your outlook on the stocks i chose? what do you think of them? what are the weak points and strong? im hoping to learn more so any feedback is welcome!
