What does deposit mean?

it means you placed your payroll check into either a checking or savings account whichever you gave your boss when you were hired if this was a direct deposit. it sounds like it was.

In much the same way that you find a place to park your car, you find a place to park your $135.00. That's what "deposit" means. You park it in a bank, for example, in a savings account or in a checking account.

"Deposit" does not mean gaining money or paying money. It just "sits there" in the account. it might earn a very little interest payment..

And NO, it is NOT a stupid question.

you do not gain or pay. [but, the amount of $ you have in the bank does increase - if that is what you mean by "gain."]

Deposit = You PLACE your money in the bank's "hands" and they record it on your [computerized] ledger account and keep it safe for you. When you want it back you "withdraw" it {visualize the cash drawer} and they give you money. [ You also use your money by paying someone else with a check - which tells the bank to withdraw the funds from your account, and give the $ to the payee. ]

If you are serious it means you gained money.

In this sentence ( You deposit your check from work into your account, it is for $135.00 )

Does deposit mean gaining money or paying money?

I know it might be a stupid question but English isn't my primary language :)

I tried translating but I still am not sure about what it means
