What's the difference between trading and investing?

I know stock trading is about buying stocks at low price, and then sell it at high price.

Does that mean trading is just a short term investment?

please explain, thank you!

Investing is what you do with your money regardless if it is in stocks or other things. For example, you might invest Gold, you could buy some rental houses for investment or even a painting that you think will improve in value. Trading refers to the buying and selling of stocks. Generally you buy low to sell when they go higher, some people do what is called short selling and make money by buying high and selling low. Many others own stocks and really don't do any "trading", they may own a utility stock that pays a dividend and they buy it once and let it ride for a long time, it is only a trade when shares are bought or sold.

Trading in general could be any buying or selling activity. Investing means you invest your resources in something to generate benefits from it. Like when you buy shares of a company, you are investing. You put capital in a business that's investment too. Forex could be short term or long term investment. It depends upon your choice. It also involves greater risks too.
