How much do stock brokers earn on average plus their bonuses?

Stock Brokers are a dime a dozen. Besides having

to pass dificult tests, you must have the gift of gab.

The average broker, makes around $60,000 per year.

Those at the top of the business can make over

$100,000 or more.

At one time being a broker was great career. The advent of the internet has made most broker'sobsolete. If your a broker you almost certainly will not trade stocks you will be now what is considered a finacial advisor. Basicaly you sell mutual funds and few bonds. Also pay has dropped a lot from 15 years ago. At one time is not uncommon to make 500 or 600k as a broker now your lucky to make 60k. The firms have all cut commision and will blame you if anything happens.

If you want to pick stocks look at working for a mutual fund or money management firm. A financial

advisor is a Sales Job not for one who likes economics. Even this area is being regulated out of existance.

I used to work in the Industry and left after seeing incomes drop. Best move I ever did.

It's all about AUM (assets under management). Different brokerage houses pay out different rates. The average would be in the area of 80-85%. Your net take home will depend on the size of your book of business and volume of trading that you do in any particular pay period. Annuity sales pay the best commissions, equities vary, and mutual funds pay a trail or 12b-1 fee quarterly (usually 0.25%).

Starting out you might earn $50,000 to $75,000 / year, and it could grow to $125k to $175k with a big client base.
